PINA Creation Inc.’s FlexiZinc™ ZnO Nano Ink has been successfully validated as a high-performance Electron Transport Layer (ETL) in organic photovoltaic (OPV) devices through an industrial collaboration with Brilliant Matters.

Key Highlights

  • Proven Performance at Scale: PINA FlexiZinc demonstrated performance comparable to—and in some cases exceeding—commercial ETL benchmarks, delivering improved current density, fill factor, and overall device efficiency.

  • Seamless Scalability: The material was successfully scaled from laboratory batches (30 mL) to pilot-scale production (1 L) without compromising quality or device performance, confirming readiness for industrial manufacturing.

  • Excellent Reproducibility: Across multiple batches and production scales, PINA FlexiZinc showed highly consistent results, highlighting strong batch-to-batch reliability—critical for commercial deployment.

  • Manufacturing Compatibility: The nano ink is compatible with a wide range of deposition techniques including spin coating, blade coating, and meniscus-based methods, supporting scalable processes such as roll-to-roll manufacturing.

  • Enhanced Stability: Devices incorporating PINA FlexiZinc ETLs demonstrated superior thermal stability (tested at 85°C) and promising operational stability under light exposure, reinforcing long-term reliability.

Why It Matters

This validation confirms that PINA FlexiZinc™ is not just a lab-scale innovation—it is a commercially viable ETL solution for next-generation OPV manufacturing. With strong performance, reproducibility, and scalability, it enables a clear transition from R&D to industrial production.
